Nzoia are currently eighth on the FKFPL log

Nzoia Sugar coach Godfrey Oduor says he is delighted that his team has scored in all the matches of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) so far.

Oduor who was forced to rebuild a brand new team after majority of his experienced players left last season is happy the experiment has worked though he admitted he needs to tighten the back.

“I was forced in just two months to build a brand new team and iam delighted we are seeing the fruits of it. It is noteworthy that we have scored goals in all our matches so far and that is commendable. It shows the players we brought on board are working hard,” he said.

Nonetheless however, Oduor bemoaned the fact that his side is conceding easy goals and has pointed out that work still needs to be done at the backline.

“Some of the goals that we have conceded so far we shouldn’t have. Look at our match against Nairobi City Stars for example, we took the lead only to crumble towards the end. Therefore, we still need to do some work here if we want to be competitive like last season,” he said.

The sugar millers lost 1-2 to Nairobi City Stars at Ruaraka Stadium despite scoring first in the match.

Nzoia are currently in eighth place on the log after picking five points from four matches. They have won once, drawn twice and lost once so far.

The team finished in fifth place last season and had to rebuild a new squad after majority of their first team players were poached by other clubs.

Even head coach Salim Babu left the club to join Kenya Police as an assistant coach, Oduor returning to take charge and try and get the team back to the top.
