Concern among Les Bleus - three weeks of absence for Ousmane Dembele?

After being injured against Hungary, Barcelona winger will miss the clash against Portugal. Maybe even the rest of the tournament.

Quick footed forward will not be able to help his teammates against current European champions. In what will be a rematch of the Euro 2016 finals on Wednesday in Budapest, France and Portugal will battle it out to proceed from the 'group of death' into the knock out rounds.

Yes, the French are worried but the fear goes beyond - it is Barcelona's plans that are under threat also.

Additional examinations of imagery were done and the news is not reassuring for Dembele - on Sunday evening that fear was justified.

Frenchman of Mauritanian descent was substituted in the 87th minute of the match against Hungary at Puskas Arena in Budapest (which ended 1-1) - he came into play in the 60th minute.

Barca's winger took 'a blow on the tendon of the knee' as indicated by national team coach Didier Deschamps after the meeting.

However, the problem could also be muscular, spreading over to the thigh. As indicated on Sunday evening, the winger is forfeited for the last match-up of Group F against CR7 & Co.

Dembele's participation in the probable round of 16 is also compromised. The French delegation fears it will be three weeks of absence for ex-Borussia Dortmund footballer - and therefore it pretty much adds up to Dembele missing the rest of the Euro 2020.

Even though Dembele is not a part of the regular starting eleven, it would be quite a blow for Les Bleus' plans of merging the titles of the world and continental champions.
