Leopards are set to strengthen their squad in the January window
It will cost AFC Leopards or any other team interested in acquiring the trio of Moses Shumah, Brian Eshihanda, and Faruk Shikalo from Kakamega Homeboyz at least 45 million shillings.
Leopards are reportedly eyeing the signatures of the trio in the mid-season transfer window set to open in January next year.
Even before the window is opened, outspoken Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has begun throwing spanner in the works by sensationally revealing the valuation of the three players.
The administrator, without mincing words, said the team will be happy to reject any offer that falls below the set price.
“We value each of the three at 15 million shillings. They (Leopards) better come with the amount on the negotiation table. If they don’t have, they shouldn't bother contacting us,” said Shimanyula.
Both Shikalo and Shumah possess international experience, having featured for the national team, the Harambee Stars, on several occasions, while Eshihanda has been skippering Homeboyz in the absence of Moses Mudavadi.
Asked on how he arrived at the hefty transfer fees for the players, Shimanyula pointed out their performance in the league, age, and experience.
He further conceded that he wasn't keen on selling his arsenal to direct rivals.
Shimanyula slapped a six million shillings price tag on Shumah and fast-rising central midfielder Hillary Juma during the off-season transfer window in a bid to ward off the deep-pocketed rivals from successfully luring the duo.
“If you scrutinize the performance of the three in the matches we have played, you will realize that they have played significant roles and are strong pillars in the team. The numbers favour and backs them as well. Shumah and Eshihanda are young and have lengthy contracts with us,” he added.
Shimanyula, known for speaking his mind out, meanwhile believes that the league title is theirs to lose this season.
Despite Homeboyz trailing log leaders and defending champions Gor Mahia by seven points, Shumanyula is convinced that the team will bridge the gap and win the title race.
“We have a solid team full of determination. We will catch up with Gor in the second leg and beat them in the race. The confidence we gathered from winning the Mozzart Bet Cup has been pushing the boys to believe that they can win the league,” he said.
