There were clashes at the stadium in Udine as well

33 years the city of Naples waited for the champion’s title in Serie A. And once they finally achieved it, some unwanted scenes happened during the celebration. A 26-year-old man died in Naples after being injured by shots fired during a night of celebrations sparked by Napoli winning its third Serie A title. Three other people were injured in the same incident in the southern Italian city. It is not yet clear if the shots were fired as part of the football celebrations, or if it was criminal activity, according to the Corriere della Sera. La Stampa newspaper said the victim, who died after being taken to hospital, was linked to a local mafia clan. Police are investigating. More than 200 people ended up in hospital overnight for injuries sustained during the celebrations, La Stampa said, from knife wounds to burns from firecrackers and asthma attacks caused by inhaling smoke from flares.

And there were incidents after the game with Udinese in Udine, where Napoli secured the title five rounds before the end of the season, after playing 1-1 with the home team. After the final whistle, thousands of supporters ran onto to pitch, to take jerseys from Napoli players, or to take parts for the grass for memory, but were met with Udinese ultras, armed with belts and sticks. The fights broke on the pitch before police intervened and restored order.

At home in Naples, owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, who took the club in 2004 when they were in Serie C, announced that the Champions League is next.

"You always said 'we want to win’. And we all won together. Thanks to everyone, everyone here on Sunday against Fiorentina for the big party. Today is the culmination of a wait that lasted 33 years. When I arrived here, I said that it would take 10 years to go to Europe. Promise held ahead. Then I said we would win the Scudetto in 10 years and we succeeded ahead. Now the goal is to win and win again. We miss the Champions League” he promised.

Many thoughts went to famous Diego Maradona, who largely contributed to winning the club's first two crowns in 1987 and 1990. "Of course you are celebrating, heaven is celebratingMaradona’s former wife Claudia Villafane wrote on social media. Diego Simeone’s son Giovanni also talked about Maradona.

He is probably celebrating the title now like all of us. Diego is very present in the Neapolitans, as is the case in Argentina. The fans keep reminding me that I am the first Argentinian to have had the chance to live these moments since Maradona" he said.
