Fabio Grosso will succeed Laurent Blanc in the dugout, although Genaro Gatusso's name was among the favourites in the last few days
Fabio Grosso has overtaken his compatriot Gennaro Gattuso as the favourite to replace Laurent Blanc as manager at Olympique Lyon, L'Equipe reports on Wednesday.
The Frenchman left the club by mutual consent on Monday. Lyon are currently bottom of Ligue 1 with just one point from four games.
On this day 16 years ago, Grosso scored the decisive penalty for Italy! This helped them beat France for them to win the World Cup! This wasn’t the only dramatic moment of this final… pic.twitter.com/l1TGit06if

Grosso, who scored a title-winning penalty in the shootout against France in the 2006 FIFA World Cup final, played at Lyon between 2007 and 2009.
Last season, he led Frosinone to the Italian Serie B title, but he left the club during the transfer window instead of guiding the side to promotion to Serie A.
Much to Grosso's surprise, the opportunities didn't fall in his lap until the last few days. However, things are about to change massively...
