In a memorable match, the Munich side ultimately managed to break Borussia’s resistance and secure a 3-2 victory
Regardless of the standings or the points gap, Der Klassiker is always a match to remember – and today was no exception. Full of twists, great atmosphere, goals, and ultimately a Bayern Munich victory that further distances the club from Borussia and paves their way toward the title.
The game started with Bayern Munich taking the initiative. In the 6th minute, a cross from the left found Olise, who tried to control and shoot, but his effort was blocked, giving Dortmund an early warning. Dortmund responded in the 13th minute through Beier, who surged down the left wing, linking up with Fabio Silva. Silva’s shot was blocked by Tah, but Dortmund earned a corner.
By the 15th minute, Dortmund seemed to have weathered Bayern’s early pressure, without conceding any clear chances.

Bayern threatened again in the 16th minute when Olise found space in the box after a Gnabry pass, but Kobel produced a brilliant save to keep Dortmund in the game.
The breakthrough came in the 26th minute. Following a foul by Upamecano on Adeyemi, Svensson whipped a precise cross into the six-yard box. Schlotterbeck met it with a header, beating Urbig and Tah, and Dortmund took a 1-0 lead against the run of play.

Buoyed by the goal, Dortmund grew more confident, pressing higher and disrupting Bayern’s build-up, particularly noticeable in the 31st minute. They came close to doubling the lead in the 34th minute: after a long ball that Tah couldn’t reach, Beier and Fabio Silva combined, but Beier’s shot from the turn lacked power, and Urbig saved comfortably.
Bayern tried to respond before halftime, with Kimmich firing a long-range effort in the 45th minute, only for Kobel to make another solid save, this time to his bottom-right corner. Dortmund went into the break leading 1-0, having defended well and taken their chance efficiently.

The second half exploded into action right from the restart. In the 52nd minute, Bayern looked set to equalize after a sharp Gnabry cross found Upamecano, but the center-back failed to get a decisive touch.
Just two minutes later, Bayern made no mistake: after a weak Dortmund clearance, Kimmich sent a perfect chip into the box for an onside Gnabry, who headed it down to Kane. The English striker calmly slotted the ball past Kobel to level the score at 1-1.
Dortmund almost responded immediately, with Beier unleashing a powerful long-range effort in the 55th minute, but it sailed over the bar. Two minutes later, Olise had a golden opportunity after a misplaced pass by Nmecha, yet his rushed shot went over the crossbar, showing he needed more composure.
In the 65th minute, Dortmund threatened again as Adeyemi’s cross found Yan Couto, whose first-time shot narrowly missed Urbig’s goal. Bayern regained the lead in the 69th minute with a penalty: Olise sent Stanisic down the right, who was fouled by Schlotterbeck. Kane stepped up and, despite Kobel getting a hand to the low strike, the ball nestled under the crossbar to make it 2-1.
Dortmund refused to back down. In the 83rd minute, they produced a brilliant equalizer. A build-up from Yan Couto and a cross from Sabitzer created confusion in the box, and Svensson volleyed powerfully into the left post, making it 2-2.
The drama continued in the 87th minute. After Dortmund’s equalizer and Guirassy missing a chance, Bayern struck again. Bellingham’s header from Olise’s cross wasn’t perfect, but it fell kindly for Kimmich, who smashed a spectacular left-footed volley past Kobel, restoring Bayern’s lead at 3-2.
