The defender spoke about the team's pre-season under Ruben Amorim, but one of his statements particularly caught people's attention, as he might have inadvertently called out some of his teammates
Man United's pre-season tour in the USA has started with a 2-1 win over West Ham and the Red Devils will play two more games overseas against Bournemouth and Everton before returning home for the final pre-season clash against Fiorentina at Old Trafford.
Apart from getting ready for the new campaign, United's players used the time between two games to talk to the media and share their impressions of the work the team had put in.
The club's longest-serving player in the current squad, Luke Shaw, spoke to journalists earlier today and possibly inadvertently called out some of his teammates, calling them "stragglers."
"There are no stragglers in this group any more. I think you've seen what he's [Ruben Amorim] done in the past eight months with different players and things like that, he doesn't care who the player is," Shaw stated while praising the manager via ESPN.
🚨🚨🎙️| Luke Shaw: "It's not hard to see from the outside what it's been like. A lot of the time I’ve been here over the last few years, it’s been extremely negative. It can be quite toxic, the environment, it's not healthy at all.

Now, given that only five players have been omitted from travelling to the USA, they must have been the "stragglers" Shaw referred to. Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan, Jadon Sancho and Antony spent the previous period on loans at Chelsea and Real Betis, and the remaining two names are Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho.
It's no secret that the latter two are on the verge of leaving Old Trafford, but calling out teammates with whom you've been sharing the locker room until two months ago and labelling them as "stragglers" - it's disrespectful.
After all, Shaw's claim will be checked very soon, already in the opening Premier League round against Arsenal and then we'll see if these "branded ones" were the only problem in United's paradise.
