In less than two weeks, the National Super League (NSL) will kick off, with twenty teams competing for the ultimate prize of promotion to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).
The second-tier league is known for its tough competition, physicality, and the travel required to honour matches.
The NSL has produced memorable moments, drama, and emerging talents. But how well do you know the teams participating in the 2024–2025 season? Mozzart Sport examines each team, highlighting their coaches and home venues.
3K Football Club
After a challenging 2023–2024 season, 3K emerged as champions of FKF Division One Zone A on the final day, securing promotion to the NSL.
Formed by the Embu business community, 3K aims to become the first team from Embu to reach Kenya’s top tier.
Coach: Francis Chege
Home Venue: Moi Stadium, Embu
APS Bomet
Following a turbulent 2020–2021 campaign and a subsequent court battle, APS Bomet is back in the NSL. The team clinched the FKF Division One Zone B championship, earning their spot in the second tier.

Home Venue: Bomet IAAF Stadium and Silibwet Stadium
Darajani Gogo
Gearing up for their third NSL season after the Nairobi Stima merger, Darajani Gogo has faced disappointment in their previous attempts at Premier League promotion. Despite struggles, a recent financial boost is expected to make them competitive this season.

Dimba Patriots
Dimba’s debut season was challenging, marked by legal battles and an eventual seventh-place finish. Known for their financial strength, they are expected to be a strong contender in the 2024–2025 season.

Home Venue: The Wolves Den (Kajiado)
Fortune Sacco
After two seasons away, Fortune Sacco returns to the NSL. Despite missing automatic promotion, they secured a swift return by winning the playoffs. Supported by Fortune Sacco Limited, they are expected to be strong contenders.

Home Venue: Mukindiru Primary School Grounds
Kibera Black Stars
A regular in the league, Kibera Black Stars, known as Yamama, faces another challenging season. They finished ninth last season, and with coach Owen Makokha’s recent departure, new head coach Edwin Lavatsa will lead the team.

Kisumu All Stars
Located in Kenya’s lakeside region, Kisumu All Stars is aiming for a return to the FKF Premier League. After a rebuilding season, they finished fifth and will rely on support from the County Government of Kisumu.

Luanda Villa
Luanda Villa returns for the second consecutive year, having finished eighth in their debut season. As a community-owned team, financial support has been a challenge, but they remain a team to watch.

Mully Children's Family (MCF)
MCF has managed to stay in the league since their entry four seasons ago. With funding from the Non-Governmental Organization Mully Children Family, they aim to improve on their 13th-place finish from last season.

Migori Youth
After a challenging season, Migori Youth finished 11th. Sponsored by local retailer Bansi Supermarket, they aim for better results this term.

Mombasa United
Mombasa United joins the league as one of the five new teams, taking over from Mombasa Elite. With new management and a fresh squad, they hope to capture the coastal fans' hearts.

MOFA
Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) is debuting in the NSL after taking over Rainbow’s slot. Supported by Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga, they aim for a strong start.

Mombasa Stars
Mombasa Stars will host their matches at Mombasa Sports Club or Serani Sports Club, with Mohammed Madaga overseeing the team.

Muhoroni Youth
Muhoroni Youth returns to the NSL following demotion from the top flight. They will use Muhoroni Stadium for their home games, with Steve Biko as head coach.

Vihiga United
After operating as Mulembe United last season, Vihiga United will play at Mumias Sports Complex. Edward Manoah and Tom Tera will lead the technical bench.

Nairobi United
In their second season in the second tier, Nairobi United finished fourth in their debut year. Due to stadium unavailability, they will use Mpesa Foundation and Kasarani Annex for their matches.

Naivas
Naivas returns to the NSL after a failed promotion attempt last term. With restructuring in both the technical bench and playing unit, they aim to climb the ranks.

Nzoia Sugar
After over five years in the top-flight league, Nzoia Sugar was demoted and hopes for a swift return to the Premier League. They will host their games at Sudi Stadium under the guidance of former APS Bomet coach Charles Odero.

SS Assad
Since their entry three seasons ago, SS Assad has consistently survived in the second tier. Based in Ukunda, they will host their games at Ukunda Showground, with Phelix Ogutu as coach.
