AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia will renew their rivalry from 1500hrs in what will be the 99th meeting between the two most supported clubs in the country.

Unlike many previous derbies, today’s clash carries extra weight as both sides are firmly involved in the title race.

Gor Mahia head into the contest at the top of the table with 58 points, three ahead of AFC Leopards, while Kenya Police sit third on 48 points.

A win for K’Ogalo would stretch their lead to six points and move them closer to reclaiming the league title.

For Ingwe, victory would draw them level with Gor Mahia and significantly boost their hopes of ending their 28-year wait for a league title.

History slightly favors Gor Mahia, who have won 34 previous derbies, with AFC Leopards winning 29 while 35 matches have ended in draws.

However, Gor Mahia come into the match with concerns over form, having failed to win their last three league matches.

Their attack, which looked sharp in the first half of the season, has also gone blunt after failing to score in each of those three games.

Leopards, on the other hand, have won four of their last five matches, although their confidence was tested in their last outing after a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Kenya Police.

Captain Victor Omune believes Ingwe is ready for the occasion.

ā€œThis time is different. There’s a lot at stake, and the way we’ve prepared mentally as a team has been solid. We believe we deserve to win this match because we’ve worked really hard to get here, and we’re fully ready. It’s a big game and one we must win to stay aligned with our mission this season,ā€ stated Omune.

His deputy, Kayci Odhiambo, who returns from injury, says the derby offers Leopards the perfect chance to respond after the Police defeat.

ā€œAs much as we lost our last match, the morale is still high among the fans. I don’t think it was a major setback. But bouncing back is our main target on Sunday, and there’s nothing better than doing that in a derby. That’s exactly what we’re aiming for, especially with so much at stake in the title race,ā€ Odhiambo remarked.

Gor Mahia defender Mike Kibwage says K’Ogalo are motivated by both the title race and the need to avenge their first leg defeat.

ā€œWe know what is at stake in the match and have therefore prepared adequately to secure a win, which is important for us, having lost the first leg, but most importantly to achieve our season target of winning the title,ā€ said Kibwage.

APS Bomet vs Sofapaka

Away from the title race, the relegation battle will also be in focus at Gusii Stadium, where Mozzart Bet-powered APS Bomet faces Sofapaka from 1400 hrs.

Both teams are in the red zone, making the fixture crucial in the survival fight. APS dropped into the relegation zone after Ulinzi Stars and Kariobangi Sharks won their Saturday matches, leaving the law enforcers under pressure to respond with victory.

Sofapaka remains bottom with 17 points and is still searching for its first win of the year, having last tasted victory on 10 November 2025. Batoto Ba Mungu are now on a 20-match winless run.

KCB vs Kakamega Homeboyz

At Kasarani Annex, KCB will host Mozzart Bet-sponsored Kakamega Homeboyz from 1500 hrs.

The Bankers will be seeking a return to winning ways after losing 3-2 to Ulinzi Stars, while Homeboyz will be chasing a victory to end their three-match winless run and move closer to the top three.
