Omar Richards seals the move back to England

He's done his best, but Omar Richards couldn't get ahead of Alphonso Davies from Bayen's left-back slot. But then again, few men could. After a respectable season, in which he made 17 appearances for the German champions, Richards returned to England by sealing a $10 million move to Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest.

The 24-year-old is the Tricky Trees' fifth signing since they won promotion to the top tier. Former England under 21 international Richards signed a four-year contract. The London-born left-back was initially part of the Fulham pathway but subsequently joined the Reading academy. After making his senior debut for the Royals in the 2017/18 season, he went on to make 104 appearances before making a move to Bavaria.

"I'm thrilled to return to England by joining Nottingham Forest at such an exciting time. The club has enjoyed an incredible last few months, and there are great ambitions for the Premier League return. I've played against Forest in the past, and they get such great backing from their fans, whilst the City Ground is an amazing place I can now call home. I can't wait to join the squad this week and begin preparations for the new season."

Head coach Steve Cooper had identified the wide defensive positions as critical areas to strengthen ahead of Forest's return to the Premier League. He is planning to add Liverpool's Neco Williams on the right-hand side of his defence. Williams has been with Liverpool since he was a little boy but now needs regular playing time as his nation prepares to feature at November's World Cup in Qatar. The Wales international has made 13 senior appearances for Liverpool but spent the second half of last season on loan with Fulham. He played 14 times, scoring twice, and also won promotion to the Premier League while at Craven Cottage.
