Ayub Timbe will have to face a late fitness test
With the historic international friendly match against Russia scheduled for Monday evening in Russia, all eyes are on the fitness of Ayub Timbe, the lone question mark among the Harambee Stars' squad currently camping in Turkey.
While the rest of the players have been declared fit for the game, Timbe's participation is shrouded in uncertainty due to a swollen ankle he picked up in camp. As the match draws near, the Kenyan winger will anxiously await a late fitness assessment that will determine whether he can make it into the starting lineup or even secure a spot on the matchday squad.
Anyembe absence
In a disappointing turn of events, the influential defender Daniel Anyembe, who played a pivotal role in Kenya's recent friendly matches against Qatar and South Sudan, has been ruled out. His absence from the squad is attributed to his inability to secure a timely release from his club.
Nevertheless, the remaining members of the Harambee Stars squad stand ready and in good health as they prepare to face Russia in this milestone match. The encounter is set to take place tomorrow, Monday 16 October at the Titanic Sports Complex in Antalya, Turkey, with kickoff scheduled for 7PM EAT.
This international friendly is of utmost importance for Kenya as it serves as their final test match before the eagerly awaited 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, which are slated to commence in November of this year.
The outcome of Timbe's late fitness test remains a focal point of anticipation and concern for the fans, and it will be a critical factor in the team's preparations for the upcoming qualifiers.
