A point a peace in the clash at the Amex
Crystal Palace survived a first-half onslaught and were looking on course to a plucky win at their rivals' ground, but a late own goal salvaged a point for the Seagulls in an entertaining Premier League duel.
Brighton were staring defeat in the eyes against Crystal Palace despite dominationg large portions of the game, but had to thank Palace's Joachim Andersen for his own goal that cancelled out Conor Gallagher's strike.
Graham Potter's side should have been in front after an eventful first half in which they were twice denied an opener in just a few minutes. First they missed a penalty and then had a goal disallowed as Patrick Vieira's Eagles rode their luck.
Palace's second-choice Jack Butland wasn’t treated to a quiet night between the sticks but he's had a great game on Friday night.
After a number of first-half let-offs, the visitors began to sense it might just be their night. Palace snatched the lead through Gallagher. The on-loan Chelsea midfielder fired his seventh league goal of the season into the right corner after Jeffrey Schlupp pulled the ball back from the byline.
Refusing to let up despite falling behind, the hosts would find an equaliser in the most unusual of fashions late on. Sticking out a lazy leg, Joachim Andersen prodded the ball beyond a helpless Butland, denying the Eagles a first-ever chance of three consecutive victories away to Brighton. There was still time for one final chance Danny Welbeck to give the hosts a dramatic winner, but he could only head over from a Solly March's cross.
