Enlist services of licensed agents to handle off pitch issues, Muyoti tells FKFPL players

Nairobi City Stars coach Nicholas Muyoti has urged players to enlist the services of football agents to help manage their careers better.

Muyoti was reacting to the transfer rumours that have linked the club’s star player, Samuel Kapen, with a move even before the season concludes.

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia, Kenya Police, AFC Leopards and Bandari are some of the clubs that have expressed interest in the winger’s signature.

Kapen will leave City Stars as a free agent as his deal with the club expires at the end of the season.

The club's winger, Kelvin Etemesi, is reportedly a KCB target in the next transfer window.

While it is normal for outstanding players to get recognition and offers, Muyoti says agents will help players handle off-the-pitch issues professionally.

The tactician regretted that the absence or inability of players to seek the services of licensed agents had a significant impact on the focus of players, especially in competition.

“The transfer news is bringing a lot of distraction in the team and I think this is where agents should come in. When players are being approached when the competition is on, it erodes their concentration levels. It also affects their performance,” he lamented.

With the possibility of losing Kapen and other players in the off-season window, Muyoti says the club has concrete plans in place to replace them.

Muyoti, who was linked to the coaching job at Shabana earlier in the year, said the club came to terms with the fact that their star players could leave for greener pastures way before the season kicked off.

“We knew our players would be in demand even before the season started. We have plans to plug in the gaps during the window,” he added.
