EURO2024Q: France put historic 14 past Gibraltar, Zaire-Emery scores on debut but instantly leaves due to injury

Such a weird evening for Paris Saint-Germain's 17-year-old midfielder and his national side (14-0)
Mixed feelings, as much as possible. And it all happened at almost the exact same moment for Warren Zaire-Emery and France on Saturday night at Nice. In the record-breaking 14-0 tarnishing of Gibraltar, he became the youngest player to appear for Les Bleus since 1914 at the age of 17 years and 128 days.
Moreover, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder even netted on his debut 16 minutes into the game following Kingsley Coman's cross from the right.

However, the tackle of Gibraltar's Ethan James Santos on Zaire-Emery maybe didn't prevent the teenager from scoring, but it hurt him a lot as he screamed in pain.
A few moments later, he left the pitch with French doctors' help and came off as Fofana replaced him.

That moment aside, it was a brutal win for Didier Deschamps' side, even historic. Until tonight, the most convincing Les Bleus victory was the 10-0 dismantling of Azerbaijan back in 1995. Unfortunately for tiny little Gibraltar - the only team that still hasn't scored a single goal in nine qualifying games - this was a historic night for all the wrong reasons.
The scoreboard was showing 2-0 after only four minutes, and it was already 7-0 at half-time, with Mbappe, Griezmann and Coman putting on a show against the ten-man minnows as James Santos was sent off for the tackle on Zaire-Emery.
The first 20 minutes of the second half saw a drastically slowed tempo, but it was just a calm before another storm. In the span of only 11 minutes, the Tricolors netted four times, thus breaking their record thanks to Kylian Mbappe's second of the night. But it was still far from over...
The remarkable forward showed a bit of his magic tricks eight minutes before the clock as he suddenly took a shot from almost 40 yards to make it 12-0.
The cherry on the top was left for Olivier Giroud, however, with the AC Milan striker scoring a late double (the last one a bicycle kick inside the six-yard box) for a further humiliation of the UEFA smallest member.
