The Toffies have bought their first player in this transfer window

Gone are the days when Everton was ready to spend more than 200,000,000 euros - as in the 2017/18 season - or "at least" 100,000,000 for reinforcements. Years of poor evaluations and bad investments have brought the club into a financial crisis, which is why this year, too, it approaches the market much more modestly, without any excessive monetary expenditures. Thus, Everton agreed on the first purchase of this summer only on the threshold of the last month of the transfer window. After long negotiations with Burnley, the Caramels managed to realize the transfer of Dwight McNeil, who followed in the footsteps of his recent club teammate James Tarkowski and replaced Turf Moor with Goodison Park.

Tarkovski arrived as a free agent after Burnley's relegation to the Championship, while almost 25,000,000 euros were paid for the young winger, which means that Everton finally started spending money received from the sale of Richarlison to Tottenham for 60,000,000. According to well-informed sources, McNeil successfully passed the medical examinations, after which a five-year contract was signed, according to which Burnley will receive around 22,000,000 euros fixed with another three million in bonuses. McNeill is a young England international who came through Burnley's academy and has already made over 100 appearances in the Premier League.

Interestingly, Everton are even considering signing Maxwell Korne from Burnley, who is West Ham's plan B in case they fail to convince Eintracht to let Filip Kostic go. McNeill is Frank Lampard's third new signing, and in addition to the duo from Burnley, Sporting's left-back Ruben Vinagre arrived on loan with the right to purchase for over 20,000,000 euros.

As for the former Premier League club, Burnley has lost almost everything of value since the relegation. Along with Tarkovsky as a free agent, second standard stopper Ben Mee joined Brentford, third stopper Nathan Collins moved to Wolverhampton for more than 24,000,000, while Nick Pope signed for Newcastle for 11,500,000. And his replacement Wayne Hennessey is no longer at the club, having signed for Nottingham Forest on a free, while Wut Weghorst has been sent to Besiktas on loan...
