Chuba Akpom, 28, is close to moving to LOSC Lille after just six months at the Amsterdam club

Former Arsenal offspring Chuba Akpom is close to joining LOSC Lille after spending just six months with Ajax Amsterdam, Foot Mercato reports.

The Ligue 1 side added Akpom's name to their shortlist of players targeted to sign as an alternative to Jonathan David, who is currently the only striker at the club.

Akpom, 28, had a difficult start to his time in the Eredivisie, scoring eight goals in Ajax's last 12 games. The season before that, he netted an incredible 29 goals in 42 appearances for Middlesbrough.

Lille are reportedly looking to sign him on a loan as they aim to satisfy head coach Paulo Fonseca, who publicly asked for a new striker following his side's defeat against Strasbourg in the last Ligue 1 round.
