The league will be divided into two zones with winners of each pooling getting an automatic promotion to the top tier
For the first time ever in the history of Women football in Kenya, a second-tier competition has been put in place with teams battling for Kenya Women Premier League glory.
Football Kenya Federation made the significant changes to the women's league structure in August as one of the key developments in the ladies’ game.
The teams participating in the FKF Women National Super League have been selected from those relegated from the 2022/23 FKF Women Premier League season and the top performing teams in the 2022/23 final FKF Women Division One League Standings.
Zone A will consist of teams from Nairobi and the Coast Regions, while Zone B will feature teams from Nyanza and the Upper Rift Valley Regions.
In Zone A for the 2023/24 season, the teams are Uweza Women (Nairobi), Mathare United Women (Nairobi), Mombasa Olympic (South Coast), MTG United (North Coast), Falling Waters Barcelona (Central), Sunderland Samba (Nairobi), Macmillan Queens (Nairobi), Kangemi Starlets (Nairobi), and Kayole Starlet (Nairobi).
On the other hand, Zone B will have Kisumu All starlets (Nyanza), Kisped Queens (Nyanza), Gideon Starlets (Nyanza), Royal Starlets (Upper Rift), Eldoret Falcons (Upper Rift), Kolwa Falcons (Nyanza), and Gene Queens (Upper Rift).
Former Premier league sides will have a tough opening weekend as they square out with top performers from the third tier. For instance, Kisumu All Starlets will start their KWPL return journey with a stern test against noisy neighbors Kisped Queens at Moi Stadium Kisumu.
Kangemi Ladies will entertain Sunderland Samba at NCC Ground with Kayole Starlets welcoming Falling Waters Barcelona on Sunday at Calvary Grounds.
In other matches, last season's promotion favorites Gideon's Starlets will be at home to battle Eldoret Falcons at Opanga Primary School Grounds, Homabay.
In Zone A, Macmillan Queens will play host to Mombasa Olympics at Ruaraka Ground in the final match of the day.
On Sunday, Kolwa Falcons travel to Kitale for Royal Starlets duel penciled at Kitale School and MTG United will settle scores against Mathare United Women at MTG Ground, Kilifi.
