FA Cup miracle: Rooney's former club stuns Premier League side!
Reading Time: 3min | Sat. 11.01.25. | 20:25
Coachless Plymouth, which won their last match on November 5 and haven't noted an away triumph since April, beat Brentford 1-0 on the road and eliminated the Bees from the FA Cup!
The magic of the FA Cup is still on! This competition cannot guarantee that David will beat Goliath, but at least gives minnows a chance. And sometimes they grab it with both hands!
Today's FA Cup schedule brought numerous duels between the favourites and the underdogs, but one should be talked about more than the others. The last-placed Championship side, Plymouth Argyle, stunned the Premier League team Brentford at their Gtech Community Stadium 1-0 and knocked them out of the competition!

Since Wayne Rooney left the club on the last day of 2024, Plymouth were coachless, with Kevin Nancekivell doing the interim manager job. They appointed the Austrian Miron Muslic only a day ago and the tactician was in the stands today and saw the miracle!
The talented 24-year-old Morgan Whittaker netted an 82nd-minute winner for the visitors, who were winless since November 5 when they beat Portsmouth 1-0. In the meantime, they recorded five draws and six defeats. Moreover, they haven't noted an away victory since April 2024!

And they ended that terrible run against the giants! Matches like this are the soul and spirit of the FA Cup, and hopefully, this competition will never change because, no matter what, people love it when David wins.
