The pair remain the only Kenyan boys’ football sides with a perfect record in the competition, despite starting the tournament as underdogs.
Agai High School 2-0 St. Mary’s Kitende (Uganda)
Agai High, nicknamed the Green Cardinals, pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the tournament by sinking Ugandan giants and pre-tournament favourites St. Mary’s Kitende 2-0 at Mabao Field, Kakamega High School.
The match was cagey in the first half, with heavy rains drenching the stadium and scattering many fans to shelter.
However, Agai’s players were unshaken, battling through the slippery surface with determination and discipline.
In the second half, the breakthrough finally arrived.
Brian Peters struck first, smashing home after a brilliant move that sliced open the Kitende defense.
Minutes later, midfield maestro Moses Otieno doubled the lead, capitalising on a rebound to send the small pocket of Green Cardinals supporters into raptures.
Kitende, stunned by the two quick goals, struggled to mount a response as Agai held firm at the back.
The final whistle confirmed a famous win that lifted Agai to 10 points, placing them within touching distance of the knockout stages.
The result underlined Agai’s resilience and spirit as they continue to write a fairytale run in their maiden appearance.
Butere Boys High School 4-0 Highway Secondary School
At Kakamega High School Outer Field, Butere Boys stamped their authority with a commanding 4-0 victory over 2024 national champions Highway Secondary School.
The Exodus now sit atop Group A with 11 points, leapfrogging regional heavyweights Musingu, Highway, Bukedea Comprehensive Academy and Buddo SS.
Butere wasted no time asserting themselves, with captain Dennis Kikwae leading from the front.
Ferdinand Isaac opened the scoring early, before Dennis Shikhule doubled the tally with a smart finish from the spot.
Kikwae added a third before halftime, sending the vibrant Butere fans into song and dance despite a steady downpour.
Highway, already struggling without their regular coach, failed to cope with Butere’s high press and relentless wing play.
The rain-soaked pitch only added to their misery as Butere players showed greater hunger and composure.
The second half saw Butere protect their lead with maturity, slowing the tempo but remaining dangerous on the counter.
In the dying minutes, Kikwae struck again, sealing his brace and wrapping up a dominant 4-0 win.
With the result, Butere move within touching distance of the semifinals, needing only to avoid defeat against Amus College on Tuesday to progress.
Their rise has firmly put them above the tournament favourites, cementing their status as the surprise package of FEASSSA 2025.
Musingu High School 0-0 Buddo SS (Uganda)
At Bukhungu Stadium, Musingu High School, The Scorpions were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Uganda’s Buddo SS.
Both sides created half-chances in a tight tactical battle, but neither could find the decisive touch in front of goal.
The wet conditions contributed to heavy passes and wasted opportunities as the defenses stayed on top.
The draw leaves Musingu on seven points, meaning they must win their remaining two fixtures if they are to book a spot in the knockout stage.
St Joseph’s High School Kitale 5-1 Benjamin Mkapa (Tanzania)
National champions St Joseph’s High School Kitale, also known as the Brown Saints, closed the day in style with a ruthless 5-1 demolition of Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa at Bukhungu Stadium.
The Saints were in devastating form from start to finish.
Collins Mwalati broke the deadlock before an own goal gifted them a second.
Instin Simiyu then added a brace with two clinical finishes, while Austine Wekesa completed the rout.
Benjamin Mkapa pulled one back late, but it was little more than consolation.
The emphatic win extended St Joseph’s unbeaten run to three matches, reaffirming their reputation as one of the teams to beat in this year’s competition.
