Rising star Elye Wahi, 20, joined Lens from Montpellier despite the interest of the Stamford Bridge outfit

Elye Wahi could be the next big thing in the European football. The prodigious French forward is only 20 but has already attracted the attention of many foreign clubs, including Chelsea.

The former Montpellier player even favoured the move to Blues' Premier League rival West Ham United before finally landing at another Ligue 1 side, RC Lens.

Now, Wahi has revealed he rejected the offer coming from Stamford Bridge, unconvinced by Chelsea's project.

Wahi has now spoken about Chelsea's interest.

"Chelsea... I didn't want to go there just for the sake of it. Eintracht Frankfurt was close, more so than Chelsea. I spoke with the manager there (Dino Toppmoeller). He speaks French, and that was important for me. They had to wait for Randal Kolo Muani's departure and waiting for it was too complicated. I don't have any regrets," concluded the Lens forward.
