The club have been using Sporty 254-manufactured kits, which were launched in May 2022 at Bukhungu Stadium

Kakamega Homeboyz used the new Uhlsport-manufactured kits in their hard-fought 1-0 win over Shabana in a Mozzart Bet Cup Round of 16 tie played at Moi Stadium, Kisumu on Sunday.

The club was largely expected to capitalize on the decent fan attendance and make profits from the sale of replica shirts.

However, fans wishing to don them will have to wait longer, as the club insists that the replicas will possibly hit the shelves before the start of the 2025-2026 season.

Club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula revealed that the German kit manufacturer had elected to test the waters by first kitting to the playing unit, before selling in bulk in the pre-season.

Shimanyula clarified that the club had requested to put the quality and comfort of the kits to test by donning them on match days and in different weather conditions.

"Uhlsport, through their representative availed a few pieces for our players. We will use them in the remainder of the season. During this period, we will be able to ascertain their quality and whether our players are comfortable with them. We will share the feedback with Uhlsport before we proceed with bulk purchase," disclosed Shimanyula.

Homeboyz have been using Sporty 254-manufactured kits, which were launched in May 2022 at Bukhungu Stadium, before the Ingo Derby against AFC Leopards got underway.

"I can confirm that we will have new kits from next season. We will avail them on time so that our fans can have them before the first match of the season," he said.

Meanwhile, Shimanyula revealed that a former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) official had expressed interest in supplying shirts to the club.

He also acknowledged receiving supply requests from former Kenyan international Sammy Shollei and a Dubai-based manufacturer.
