Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat believes there is need for Kenya to explore strategic partnerships with fellow football federations of developed countries to expose Kenyan players to the highest level of football.
Speaking on Wednesday in a meeting with Qatari Football Association General Secretary / CEO Mansoor Al-Ansari, Firat spoke in glowing terms of Qatar, hoping that the two countries would get into a partnership that would expose Kenyan football to the outside world.
“Qatar is a country with great potential. They have invested a lot of resources in football. Over 55,000 Kenyans also work and live here,” Firat said as quoted on the Football Kenya Federation portal. “We are exploring partnerships with such countries so as to expose Kenyan football to the global scene.”
Firat was accompanied by influential Harambee Stars Captain Michael Olunga, who recently won the Golden Boot in Qatar as his Al Duhail side won the Qatar Stars League.

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga scored four goals on Monday evening as Al Duhail made light work of Al Shamal to clinch the Qatar Stars League title.
The Kenyan international also walked home with the golden boot for the second year running, earning a nomination to the shortlist for the Qatar Football Association (QFA) Best Player of the Year award.
As per FKF, more friendly matches have been lined up in the June, September, October, and November international windows as the team prepares itself for a return to CECAFA, CAF, and FIFA competitions.
In March this year, Harambee Stars put behind them a year-long suspension from international football to feature in a friendly match against Iran in Tehran.
