'First world' problems: buy a player for 28,500,000 and don't register him for the Champions League

PSG also left out Marco Verratti
Some clubs simply live in a different reality just because of the amount of money they have at their disposal. One of those clubs is Paris Saint-Germain who decided not to register Hugo Ekitike for their Champions League campaign - a player they paid 28.5 million euros for! Thus, the young Frenchman will not get the chance to try himself on the big stage already this autumn, although he should not be too sad, because the same fate befell Marco Verratti.
Only the reasons are different. Verratti was written off in Paris a long time ago and all summer they are trying to sell him to one of the Middle Eastern clubs. According to Radio Monte Carlo, they are now very close to achieving their goal - Verratti is expected to move to Qatar and sign for Al-Arabi in the next couple of days. The Italian also realized that Luis Enrique doesn't see him as an important piece of the puzzle and accepted the reality.
The case of Ekitike is different and much more interesting, because PSG spent well to bring the 21-year-old footballer from Reims. However, this is where a big part of the problem lies, because PSG spent well for many other players. With the price of the mentioned 28,500,000 euros, Ekitike is not perceived as a particularly big expenditure at Parc des Princes, because they paid three times more for Randal Kolo Muani, while Manuel Ugarte, Ousmane Dembele, Lucas Hernandez and Bradley Barcola were also more expensive.
The €90,000,000 transfer of Kolo Muani was particularly important for Ekitike, but also the loan of Goncalo Ramos, which will take 65,000,000 fixed from the club's account next summer, and maybe another 15,000,000 in bonuses. True, that money will not immediately go to Benfica, but that is not important for this story because of the fact that Kolo Muani and Ramos are in Luis Enrique's plans ahead of Ekitike.

Also, Marco Asensio is expected to "steal" at least some minutes in the false nine position. There is simply no place for Ekitike. He could have seen it coming when PSG offered him to Eintracht during the negotiations to bring in Kolo Muani. On the last day of the transfer window, it was mentioned that he could also go to Crystal Palace and West Ham.
On the other hand, Keylor Navas and Presnel Kimpembe found themselves on the list for the Champions League, although the latter is injured and the question is whether he will be ready for the group stage.
