The local transfer window has been open since the end of the 2021/2022 season and will close at the end of the month

FKF Transition Committee leagues and competitions chairman Ali Amour has hinted that the body is planning to develop a transfer system that will help with the transfer of players locally.

If implemented, the system will probably be used in place of the FIFA Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS) that clubs have been using locally under the custodianship of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

Since taking over the running of football matters in the country last year in November, the transfer and registration of players has been a hot potato as the Transition Committee, together with their predecessor the Caretaker Committee, did not have access to both the DTMS and the FIFA Transfer Matching System used for international transfers.

Speaking during a meeting between the committee and representatives from FKF Premier League clubs where they reviewed the previous season and previewed the upcoming one, Amour noted that plans for such a system were in the offing.

"There are plans to develop a transfer system which would help monitor the movement of players to curb cases of FIFA sanctions on clubs over violation of transfer regulations," Amour said.

His sentiments were echoed by Kenya Police FC team manager George Maelo who opined that the new system would help adress transfer problems that may arise in subsequent regimes, noting that it would be a key landmark achievement for the committee..

"New portal for registration of players secured through various transfers should be for longevity to address the problems that may arise in the subsequent regimes. The establishment of this avenue would be one of the key landmark achievements for the FKF Transition Committee," the fomer Sofapaka FC captain said.
