Meanwhile, at St. Sebastian Park, Erick Kapaito’s 76th-minute strike was enough to earn Tusker their first win of the season, a narrow 1–0 victory over Murang’a Seal
Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia rediscovered their scoring touch in style, thumping Posta Rangers 3–0 at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday to record their third straight win of the FKF Premier League season.
Ben Stanley Omondi, Austin Odhiambo, and Felix Oluoch were all on target for the Green Army, whose commanding display handed Posta Rangers their first defeat of the campaign.
The victory lifted Gor to third on the table with nine points, one behind their match day opponent, who prior to kick off were unbeaten.
The match kicked off with both sides showing attacking intent, trading early corners inside the opening five minutes.
The Mailmen settled faster and camped in Gor’s half for long spells, but the defending champions stood firm, with goalkeeper Bryne Omondi alert to every danger.
Chances remained few and far between as the half wore on, with the battle largely confined to midfield.
Eliud Lokuwam came close for Rangers in the 37th minute, but his mistimed run allowed Omondi to clear the ball from the edge of the box.
Both sides showed flashes of promise, but the first half ended goalless.
Gor began the second half with renewed purpose.
Shariff Musa, who had been lively on the right flank, created a golden chance in the 54th minute after dribbling past three defenders before squaring for Fidel Origa
However, the defensive midfielder blazed his effort over the bar from close range, leaving the crowd in disbelief.
Head coach Charles Akonnor responded with inspired changes, introducing Ben Stanley Omondi and Felix Mboya to add spark in attack, and the move paid off instantly.
Barely seconds after stepping onto the pitch, Omondi rose between two defenders to head home Musa’s pinpoint cross in the 58th minute, sending the Green Army faithful into a frenzy.
Thirteen minutes later, Odhiambo doubled Gor’s advantage, capitalizing on a defensive howler.
Posta goalkeeper Frederick Odhiambo mishandled a routine back pass, gifting Odhiambo the ball at the edge of the box.
The playmaker calmly slotted into an empty net before raising his hands to the sky in relief , a symbolic moment after his early-season struggles in front of goal.
The Nyayo stands erupted into “Jowi! Jowi (in honour of their former patron, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga!” chants as Gor tightened their grip on the game.
In the closing stages, Gor fans turned emotional, lighting up their phone flashlights in tribute to the club’s long-serving patron Raila Odinga.
Deep into added time, Felix Oluoch sealed the win with a composed finish, muscling past his marker before firing home to make it 3–0 and confirm Gor’s dominance.
Meanwhile, at St. Sebastian Park, Erick Kapaito’s 76th-minute strike was enough to earn Tusker their first win of the season, a narrow 1–0 victory over Murang’a Seal.
The Brewers, who have endured a slow start, moved to five points from five matches, while Seal remained in the relegation zone with three points from as many games.
