Santiago Bernabeu did lay the foundations for Real Madrid's rise, signed legendary Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas, and won six European Cups, but Florentino has taken the club to another level, turning Real Madrid into a ruthless winning machine and a global brand.
At the beginning of the century, he made an economic revolution, assembled the Galacticos featuring David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario, Luis Figo, and Co, proving he could sign virtually any player in the world, and won seven Champions League titles.
Despite the record voter turnout, Perez secured 60% of the vote. His opponent, Enrique Riquelme, didn't stand a chance and had no choice but to congratulate the winner.
"Congratulations to Florentino for his victory. And also to the Real Madrid members who were able to vote. It’s a great victory for this candidacy. For us, this isn’t the end, it’s the beginning. Real Madrid won’t go 20 years without another election."
"The Real Madrid members who will continue to vote for four years. Respect for the legacy and extending a hand to the debate that we haven’t had. The best thing is that the members are heard. It’s a pleasure to be with you," he said via Yahoo Sports.
Perez, meanwhile, couldn't have been happier with the outcome, confirming in his victory speech that Jose Mourinho would return to the Real Madrid bench after 13 years.
“We have won across all the tables. We have achieved the second-best result in Real Madrid’s history. It is an extraordinary result, and it could have been even better because 1,000 postal votes were invalidated, but we will appeal that decision."

“We have shown that we are both a democracy and a great family. It has been a remarkable election day. We will continue working hard, and we are proud that one of the best managers in the world, Jose Mourinho, is returning."
"Make no mistake: under my leadership, Real Madrid has always belonged, belongs, and will always belong to its members. You have demonstrated what Madridismo is - the spirit that unites millions of people around the world, including the Pope," Florentino stated via The Athletic.
With the election behind him, it's time to roll up his sleeves and get down to business. "The Special One" needs top-quality signings and a competitive squad to challenge Barcelona's grip on Spanish football.
If anyone is up to that task, it's Florentino Perez.
