Various clubs including Gor Mahia, Kariobangi Sharks, Bidco United and Tusker were some of the teams to receive the jab on the first day
Different stakeholders in the football fraternity including players and coaches have come out to express their hope of a quick resumption to football activities in the country just hours after Football Kenya Federation in conjuction with the Ministry of Health rolled out the vaccination campaign on Nairobi based teams.
Gor Mahia midfielder Kenneth Muguna, who received the vaccine along his team, thanked the federation for availing the campaign before stating his expectations.
“It is very important and health wise, we needed to get a vaccine as players. I want to thank the federation for organizing this kind of session and I hope that as soon as everyone gets the vaccine we can go back to the pitch,” he concluded.

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti also weighed in on the importance of taking the vaccine after his Homeboyz team had suffered the wrath of the pandemic prior to the season kicking off last year in November where eight of his players tested positive for the virus.
“The vaccination is very important because Covid-19 really affected us and probably some other clubs, the measures are really important so it is good that the government has taken those steps,” noted Muyoti.
