Forest shopping in Juve at bargain prices

Reading Time: 3min | Wed. 25.06.25. | 12:57

The Italians are after Sancho and are raising funds for his arrival

The Premier League is the most popular league (but not necessarily the best one) in Europe, with huge commercial gain and a potential for additional growth. It‘s also a league in which even a mid-table club can buy a good player from some stronger team in another league, since England clubs are much wealthier than the rest of Europe. This also means that other teams can use this situation and charge the Premier League clubs a bit more money that they could to other European teams. But sometimes, even Premier League clubs can strike a bargain as Nottingham Forest is about to do.

According to multiply sources, Juventus is willing to sell two of their forwards for a combined price of 20-22 million pounds. In today‘s market prices, this figure would usually mean a price for just one of them, but the Italian giant decided to give a discount for the clubs which are willing to buy Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula. Forest took the bite and should be able to aquire the USA and the Belgian internationals, who are out of favor in Turin. Both players have suffered since Igor Tudor came to Juventus and haven't played much. Weah got more playing time but often out of position (playing a wing back) and finished the season under Tudor with only three Serie A games, while Mbangula was reduced to just four minutes across two substitute appearances in Serie A.

Their departure was imminent as soon as the club announced that former Marseille boss will stay permanently in Turin for at least another season. Juve is giving a big discount for both players, but they will still earn money, since they paid only 10 million euros for Weah, while Mbangula was brought in from Anderlecht for only 500.000. With money from their sale they can get into the bid for Jadon Sancho. On the other hand, Nottingham Forest rejected Newcastle‘s 45 million pounds big for Anthony Elanga, but if the Magpies up their bid, the Trees could sell him and will have two players as his replacement, and they would also make money, since they paid them only 20-22 million.
