Wolves' left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri leads Premier League defenders in goals and assists in all English competitions this season

When discussing the most productive Premier League defenders, some familiar and popular names usually come to mind: Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, Gabriel Magalhaes of Arsenal, or Man City's duo, Josko Gvardiol and John Stones. However, considering all competitions in England, none of them leads Premier League in goals and assists.

The aforementioned TAA is joint-second, alongside Tottenham's Pedro Porro and Antonee Robinson of Fulham, as they have seven contributions apiece, while the first-placed name has nine. But who is that? An Algerian defender whose excellent performances have constantly gone under the radar - Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Wolverhampton's left-back scored four goals and assisted five times in the current campaign and although he last netted in the FA Cup two days ago, all his remaining contributions came in the Premier League. For instance, Ait-Nouri scored against Liverpool and Brentford in consecutive PL games and was the most deserving of Wolves' 2-2 draw against Spurs with two assists.

Even the fact that he's been far from the centre of attention did not unhinge the 23-year-old, who has apparently understood that he will have to fight to be noticed. Hence, he accepted the challenge, and it's only a matter of time before some European giant realizes Rayan is what they need.
