Swallows becomes his fourth club in South Africa since leaving Gor Mahia back in 2018.

Former Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr is set to extend his stay in South Africa after being named the new head coach of a struggling Swallows FC.

Wednesday 2315 (8.00) Everton (4.70) Liverpool (1.45)

Kerr will take over the reins from the departed Brandon Truter who was shown the door after a 3-1 hammering at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby on Sunday.

According to reports from South Africa, the 54-year-old was not among the five-man shortlist considered for the job that included Luc Eymael, Gordon Igesund, Muhsin Ertugral, Owen Da Gama and Gavin Hunt.

The two-time Kenyan Premier League champion has his work cut out at Swallows with the side currently anchored to the foot of the log after a torrid start to the season.

Swallows have only picked up a single win all season after 12 games but will take consolation from the fact that they are only a point from safety.

The club is yet to release an official statement on the hiring of Kerr but posted pictures of the gaffer’s unveiling on their social media handles.

Gauteng MEC for Education and senior club official Panyaza Lesufi welcomed Kerr on Tuesday afternoon with a short message.

“Welcome to the next coach Dylan Kerr, let’s fly again,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

The Englishman comes with an experienced CV having helped Marumo Gallants to the Nedbank Cup title last season when they were still known as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
