His appointment comes just days after the former Harambee Stars midfielder parted ways with FKF Premier League side Murang'a Seal.
The move signals intent from the Tore Bobe hierarchy, who are currently in the process of rebuilding their technical setup following the departure of head coach Peter Okidi on 17 March.
Monday’s return is seen as a strategic decision, with the club banking on his familiarity with the team’s structure and philosophy to stabilize operations on the bench.
“We are delighted to welcome back Hosbon Monday as our 1st assistant coach. Following his previous experience with the team and his deep understanding of our team philosophy, we believe he is the right fit for this role as we fast-track the rebuilding process of our technical bench,” the club announced across its social media platforms.
Monday is not new to the Tore Bobe faithful, having previously worked at the club during the 2024/2025 season as an analyst, where he was credited with contributing to the Kisii-based side’s impressive fifth-place finish.
During his first spell, he worked alongside Peter Okidi and Benard Mwalala, who are widely credited with laying the playing structures that continue to define the team.
He now links up with former Darajani Gogo head coach Andrew Ongwae, who has been in charge on an interim basis since Okidi’s departure.
The duo will be tasked with steadying the team as the club continues its search for a substantive head coach.
Monday returns to Shabana just days after leaving Murang’a Seal, with his exit coming in the backdrop of the club’s elimination from the Mozzart Bet Cup following a heavy 5-1 defeat to Mfalme FC in the Round of 16.
The Eldoret-based side, founded in 2015, competes in FKF Division One Zone D and stunned the top-tier outfit with a dominant display.
Before the cup exit, Monday had endured a difficult run, going four matches without a win and managing just one victory in his last seven outings.
In the aftermath of the defeat, he hinted at stepping down, citing internal challenges within the club, including claims of sabotage involving some players and officials.
A former player, Monday featured for Tusker and Mathare United before transitioning into coaching.
A two-time FKF Premier League champion with Tusker and Sofapaka, Monday brings a winning mentality into the Tore Bobe camp.
He holds a CAF B coaching license and is expected to play a pivotal role as Shabana aims to improve their fortunes this season and mount a serious challenge for the Mozzart Bet Cup.
At his peak, Monday was regarded as one of the most talented utility players of his generation, turning out for clubs such as Tusker, Tanzanian side Azam FC, and Omani outfit Al-Shabab, experience that now shapes his approach on the touchline.
