The lanky player played a crucial role in Mathare's succesful bout with relegation

Mathare United forward John Mwangi is carefully studying four offers placed on his table by top-flight clubs following his stellar performance with the 'slum boys' in the closing stages of the concluded season.

Mwangi was among the players who saved their best for the last, unleashing his beast mode in the final rounds of the season to help the club beat relegation after flirting with it for the better part of the season.

As expected, his performance has now attracted the eye of Posta Rangers, KCB, Wazito, and Bandari who all want to acquire his signature ahead of the new season set to kick off later in the month.

Having previously worked with Francis Kimanzi at Mathare, the left-footed player said that the revered tactician was the first to make inquiries over his availability way before the season ended.

With six months remaining in his deal with Mathare, the former national U20, Rising Stars man said he was perusing the offers and will apparently settle for the best.

"Four teams have called me but I haven't made up my mind yet. I am listening to each and will eventually sign for the best in terms of objectives, playing style and player welfare. The offers clearly indicate that I gave my best in the Mathare shirt," he said.

Meanwhile, Mwangi expressed satisfaction with the role he played in helping the club evade the drop after being written off in the first leg.

The 2008 league champions were strong candidates for the drop but summoned their energies in the remaining five rounds to assure themselves participation in the new season.

"I found the club in the top flight and it would have been unfortunate to be part of the squad that could not help retain the status. I gave my best when it mattered most so are the rest and I am glad that we made it," he added.
