The striker has become the second highest scoring man in the club after bagging 18 goals in his opening 18 games in a season.

It is an open secret that,Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala is a man on a mission in the ongoing 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier league (FKFPL).

Since having a torrid time in 2021 where, the attacker terminated his contract in Sweden that was supposed to be for a six-month loan deal after just one month, the striker has not looked back since then.

This season, specifically, the former Western Stima man has left nothing to chance in his quest of lifting the Golden Boot for the very first time in his career, performances that have earned him a place in elite Gor Mahia company.

According to statistics provided by the club, Omala, who has scored a staggering 18 goals in the eighteen games the team have played so far, has become the second highest scoring man to achieve such a tally after the opening 18 games.

The prodigious striker is only beaten by one of the league's and national team's former lethal striker William Ouma who is noted to have bagged 19 goals in the opening 18 matches back in 1968.

Among the names that Omala has beaten in the prestigious list include Hesbon Omollo (16), Maurice Ochieng (15), Peter Dawo (13), Abbey Nassur (12) and most recently Michael Olunga (12).

The free scoring striker has been in fine fettle this season, becoming the only player to hit two hat tricks this season after scoring the treble against Wazito and Vihiga Bullets.

Currently, the youngster top the top scoring charts with his eighteen goals that are five clear of his closest challenger Elvis Rupia in the race for the Golden Boot.

And with sixteen games still remaining before curtains close on the season, the striker is on course to break the all time top scoring record of 28 goals in a single season which belongs to Charles Odero for Scarlet in the 1983 season.
