Creative midfielder Arthur Vermeeren is one of the top targets for the Catalan giants in the January Transfer Window
He's been in Barca scouts' notebooks for almost a year. Even before his 18th birthday, and as things stand, Arthur Vermeeren could find himself at Camp Nou before his 19th birthday.
The upcoming Tuesday would be a perfect chance to see this promising Belgian midfielder on the biggest stages of all, against Barcelona, in the Champions League.
Young Vermeeren will lead his Royal Antwerp at the Olympic Stadium, where the Catalans play their home games while reconstructing their emblematic arena.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, Barca sent one of its scouts, David Fernandez, to Antwerp to see him for the first time on January 7 against Gent. Scouts from Borussia Dortmund, Monaco and West Ham were also there, and then there were two more trips to Belgium from FC Barcelona in addition to the weekly monitoring of their matches remotely.
Arthur Vermeeren will be one of the players that Barcelona will hope to keep quiet when they take on Royal Antwerp in their Champions League opener on Tuesday.

Mark van Bommel's rose started flourishing in 26 league games, with 24 of them as a starter. Vermeeren has a contract until 2025 and usually acts as a playmaker in the 4-2-3-1 used by the former Barca midfielder.
"His great positional sense of the game allows Vermeeren to act as a beacon in Antwerp's wide zone, although not without leaving aside a certain offensive projection thanks to a refined technique that has led him to be compared to Andres Iniesta," writes the Barcelona-based newspaper.
Vermeeren's price tag is estimated between €15m and €20m. With the January Transfer Window approaching fast, this could be a bargain for Xavi, Deco and the rest of Barca's leading men.
