K'Ogalo have been forced to turn to their youth team as they are currently serving a transfer embargo that is set to lapse in January
Gor Mahia FC head coach Johnathan McKinstry opines that the youthful players within the ranks of the record Kenyan champions will surprise many people with their quality once the new season kicks off.
K’Ogalo were barred from recruiting new players until next year during the midseason transfer window in January owing to a FIFA-imposed transfer embargo for failing to pay their former players as directed by the world football governing body.
In light of the same, they have been forced to turn to their youth setup in the last two transfer windows whenever they had a gap to fill in the main team or whenever they are looking for fresh players to inject quality to their team.
Speaking after a friendly match over the weekend, Gor Mahia's Irish tactician echoed his earlier sentiments on the quality of the players, noting that they have been hungry to impress.
He is further adamant that they are good players going by the capabilities he has seen them display during pre-season.
“They have shown massive talent and are hungry to impress. When the league kicks off some of these young boys will surprise many. I believe in talent growth and have seen their capabilities and can attest they are good players,” McKinstry told the club's media.
K’Ogalo engaged in two friendlies over the weekend, seeing off Talanta 3-0 at Camp Toyoyo on Saturday courtesy of a brace by Benson Omalla and a goal by Peter Lwasa. However, they fell by a solitary goal to Posta Rangers at the same venue on Sunday.
They are set to face off with Nairobi City Stars on Sunday..
