This was the second time the Serb was taking charge of the Black Stars after leading them to the 2010 World Cup quarter finals

Four-time African champions Ghana have officially confirmed the imminent news that they have parted ways with Serbian tactician Milovan Rajevac after the team crushed out of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations at the group stages for the first time in 16 years.

Pooled in Group C, the Black Stars shockingly failed to record any win as they lost to Morocco, drew against Gabon and were condemned to another loss against debutants Comoros that consequently ensured they finished last and were thus eliminated from the prestigious African tournament.

In a communique released late on Wednesday night, the Ghanian Football Association (GFA) announced that they undertook the decision to part ways with Rajevac after receiving detailed reports on the team's outing in the continental tourney.

The GFA also revealed that the Black Stars management committee was also relieved off its duties with a new body to be announced soon.

“The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has decided to part ways with Black Stars Coach Milovan Rajevac. This follows the receipt of the Technical Report from the Coach, the Medical Report and the Report from the Management Committee following Ghana’s early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 tournament,” a part of the statement read.

“The Executive Council after considering the three reports and engagements with key stakeholders has decided to end its relationship with Coach Milovan Rajevac and also decided that the Black Stars Management Committee be reconstituted.

“The Association would like to thank Milovan Rajevac and the Management Committee for their service and wish them the very best in their future endeavours. The GFA will soon announce the reconstituted Technical Team and Management Committee after due engagement with all relevant stakeholders,” the letter read.

This was Rajevac’s second stint with the Ghana national team. The Serb is famously remembered for leading the Black Stars to the quarter finals of the FIFA 2010 World Cup held in South Africa where they almost became the first African side to make it to the last four of the showpiece event were it not for Luis Suarez’s handball on the line and Asamoah Gyan’s famous penalty miss.

Ghana’s next assignment is a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 playoff against Nigeria in March 2022 where the team will be seeking to atone for their early AFCON exit
