Goalscoring drought finally over – Guirassy scores the winner for Borussia

The Guinean striker finally found the net after five league matches without a goal, securing Dortmund’s 1-0 victory over Augsburg

This isn’t the Dortmund that dazzles — but it’s a Borussia that wins. Niko Kovac has managed to build a competitive team that may not play attractive football and sometimes struggles against weaker opponents, yet when the going gets tough, Serhou Guirassy steps in as the perfect problem solver.

That was exactly the case against Augsburg. The Guinean striker scored the only goal of the match late in the first half, earning the Black and Yellows all three points with a 1–0 victory.

Augsburg will have plenty of reasons for regret. Despite being stuck near the bottom of the table since the start of the season, the hosts fought bravely, showing heart and determination — but it wasn’t enough.

They simply lack attacking quality, a player capable of turning one or two chances into a goal — something every team fighting for survival desperately needs. The fact that both sides registered just one shot on target in the entire 90 minutes says a lot about the overall quality of the game.

Dortmund didn’t look convincing, but they made their only real opportunity count, thanks to their top scorer. Guirassy capitalized on a positional error by goalkeeper Finn Dahmen to settle the contest. The goal is HERE!

Beyond that, there’s little worth remembering from this match. Dortmund came, saw, and conquered. There was no flair, no excitement, but they got the job done. The performance left much to be desired — yet at the end of the day, three points are all that matter.
