Barely 72 hours after their previous outing against Tusker FC, K’Ogalo’s afternoon unravelled in all spheres.
Despite the club’s push to promote online ticketing introduced in April, Gor Mahia confirmed they had collected Ksh360,400, a steep decline from the Ksh872,300 banked against Tusker just days earlier.
The drop, a staggering Ksh466,900, marked Gor Mahia’s second-lowest ticket revenue in the last six months, only ahead of the Ksh160,600 registered in their clash against FC Talanta.
Tuesday’s figure also cemented an unwanted trend, marking the seventh time K’Ogalo have failed to hit the one-million-shilling mark in gate collection since rolling out digital ticket purchases.
If the financial dip was worrying, the on-field display proved even more damning.
Gor Mahia crumbled to a shocking 4–1 defeat, their heaviest loss of the campaign and their second biggest loss in four years since their 3-0 defeat to Posta Rangers as APS Bomet produced a performance brimming with purpose.
Hansel Ochieng delivered a statement show, netting a brilliant hat-trick, the first of the 2025/26 FKFPL season, while Rodgers Kipkemboi added a late fourth to cap a memorable afternoon for the Mozzart Bet-sponsored side.
For Bomet, the emphatic win breathed life into their season.
Coming exactly a month after their 2–1 triumph over Kariobangi Sharks, the result handed stand-in coach Benedict Wanjala and his charges their second win of the campaign, lifting them from the foot of the table to 17th place on eight points.
For Gor Mahia, meanwhile, the defeat could not have come at a worse time.
K’Ogalo squandered a golden opportunity to open a four-point gap over second-placed Kakamega Homeboyz, instead remaining stuck on 19 points, just one ahead of the chasing Homeboyz.
The collapse also marked head coach Charles Akonnor’s second defeat since taking charge, two months on from his maiden loss to Bidco United in the season opener.
