In a match hosted by the 21-time record league champions at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, 31 January, the club missed the Ksh1 million mark by just Ksh26,400 as confirmed by treasurer Gerphas Okuku through the club’s social media pages.
“We managed to collect Ksh973,600 from ticket sales in our match against Sofapaka at Nyayo Stadium. We thank all fans for the support and dedication,” reads the statement.
The match’s tickets retailed at Ksh300 for regular, Ksh1,000 for VIP, while those who sat at the VVIP section had to part with Ksh3,000.
The amount represented a decline of Ksh27,700 from the Ksh1,001,300 that the club realised from their previous home match against Mara Sugar on Sunday, 18 January.
In the other home match that K’Ogalo played in 2026, the club realised a gross match ticket revenue of Ksh385,300 from their midweek clash against Murang'a Seal held on Wednesday, 14 January at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Gor Mahia have experienced a general increase in match-day ticket revenue this season, largely due to the digitisation of the ticketing process and the urge by fans to push the club to regain the league title.
On the pitch, K’Ogalo cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over the 2009 champions in a match that the Charles Akonnor-coached side dominated proceedings.
Frank Odhiambo opened the scoring for K’Ogalo in the 13th minute before his central defense partner, Sylvester Owino, doubled their lead five minutes later.
Ghanaian import Ebenezer Adukwaw scored the third from the spot after Harambee Stars winger Shariff Musa was brought down in the box in the 31st minute.
As it stands, Gor Mahia are clear at the summit with 40 points, four more than their arch-rivals, AFC Leopards, who were not in action over the weekend.
