The Kenyan giants are in pole position to win this season's league title after securing a 3-1 win over Murang’a Seal in an FKF Premier League match played on Sunday, 17 May at the Nyayo National Stadium.
In the season’s homestretch, the club has seen a surge in the number of supporters attending their matches, especially since the Mashemeji Derby played on Sunday, 26 April, and so was the case in their clash with Seal.
Speaking after the match, Owino expressed his gratitude to the team's faithful while also asking for more.
“Fans have been turning up for us, especially in our recent matches and have really pushed us. We urge them to keep coming, including the ones who are still watching from home, because we want to win it for them and celebrate with them,” Owino told Sports Radar.
The experienced defender also took time to reflect on the impact of the win over Seal ahead of their next match.
“We got a big win, which motivates us going into our next match, where we are going for a win in order to confirm the championship,” he added.

In the Sunday afternoon clash, Gor Mahia opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Samuel Kapen before Joe Waithira drew Seal level in the 36th minute.
A dominant second-half performance was capped by goals from Shariff Musa and Ebenezer Assifuah, which ensured the 21-time champions took home the maximum points.
Up next for K’Ogalo is a match against Mara Sugar FC scheduled for Sunday, 24 May, with the venue yet to be confirmed.
Should Gor Mahia defeat the Sugar Millers, they will be declared champions for a record 22 times before their final match of the season against Nairobi United on Saturday, 30 May.
