Ochieng was making a comeback after picking up an injury in the Al Ahly Merowe clash.

After picking up a hamstring injury in the 2-1 defeat to Kisumu All Stars on Sunday, Gor Mahia midfielder Sydney Ochieng is a major doubt for the Otôho d'Oyo clash.

K’Ogalo face the Congolese (Brazzaville) outfit in the CAF Confederation Cup Playoffs on Sunday as they seek a return to the Group Stages after two seasons in the cold.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Ochieng confirmed that he picked up an injury with further assessments set to be done on Tuesday to provide his return date.

“I got a hamstring injury in the defeat to Kisumu All Stars, I still don’t have a time frame for when I will return but on Tuesday the club doctor will examine the extent of the injury,”

“I’m still in pain, I might miss the game against Otôho d'Oyo on Sunday. I think the lack of match sharpness was part of the reason why I picked up the injury,” said Ochieng.

The former Tusker FC midfielder returned to training recently after suffering another injury setback in the Al Ahly Merowe clash and needed immediate medical attention as he was rushed to hospital.

Gor Mahia head coach Mark Harrison also confirmed that Ochieng picked up an injury as he was the only injury concern ahead of the away clash against Otôho d'Oyo.

“Unfortunately Sydney picked up a hamstring injury on Sunday, we will assess him on Tuesday to see how bad the damage is,”

“We will just wait and hear what the doctors will say but other than that there are no injury concerns, everybody else is okay,” said Harrison.
