Katasi's departure is a significant blow for AFC Leopards, who are now expected to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
Gor Mahia have once again dipped into AFC Leopards' ranks during the transfer window, this time securing the signature of goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi.
The move marks the second time in less than a year that K'Ogalo have signed a key player from their arch-rivals, following the acquisition of midfielder Lewis Bandi, who also made the controversial switch across the divide.
Katasi has been in negotiations with Gor Mahia over the past few days and has now completed a move to the record Kenyan champions, bringing an end to his three-year stay at AFC Leopards.
"Katasi is officially a Gor Mahia player. He has signed his contract with the club. He is a goalkeeper we rate highly and one we believe will add strong competition within the department. The coaching staff are delighted to have him on board," a source within the Gor Mahia camp told Mozzart Sport.
The goalkeeper enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign after establishing himself as AFC Leopards' first-choice shot-stopper following the departure of Levis Opiyo to Bandari FC. He played a crucial role in helping Ingwe remain in the title race until the closing stages of the season, before eventually losing out to Gor Mahia.
A product of St. Anthony's Boys High School, Kitale, Katasi joined AFC Leopards from Nzoia Sugar three years ago. However, it was only in what has turned out to be his final season at the club that he cemented his place as the team's undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
Katasi is not expected to be Gor Mahia's only goalkeeping signing this window. Equity FC goalkeeper Michael Onyango, who won the National Super League Golden Glove award last season, is also set to join the club. Current goalkeeper Gad Mathews is expected to depart, paving the way for the arrival of the two shot-stoppers.
Katasi's departure is a significant blow for AFC Leopards, who are now expected to strengthen their goalkeeping department. The club already has an agreement in place to sign Kariobangi Sharks goalkeeper Sebastian Wekesa and is likely to bring in at least one more goalkeeper before the transfer window closes.
