This comes after CS Mbadi hosted the team at his National Treasury Office on Thursday, 4 June, following their FKF Premier League triumph.
In the event that was also attended by Gor Mahia chairman Senior Counsel Ambrose Rachier, the former Suba South MP handed the club a total of Ksh3.2 million.
Of the total amount, Ksh2 million went directly to the players, Ksh1 million to the club management and Ksh200,000 to a section of the club’s fans dubbed Team Kwaya, led by Taya Dok.
Speaking at the event, Mbadi congratulated the team for their success and traced his lineage to Gor while also promising to facilitate the club's visit to State House.
“Gor Mahia deserves a visit to the State House. Which other team has won the title 22 times? They are the best team in East and Central Africa,” he remarked
The promise came after a request to the CS by Rachier, asking him to help the club secure an appointment with the head of state.
Rachier also tabled a raft of requests for the club, including facilitation to secure a training ground, citing the distance of the Mpesa Foundation, which they currently use, to help boost the club in acquiring new players and their sign-on fees, as well as air tickets and hospitality for CAF away matches.
The millions by CS Mbadi come days after the club Patron Eliud Owalo hosted the team to a luncheon and handed them Ksh1 million.
Prior to their coronation, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga gifted the team Ksh1 million as well as an equivalent amount from President William Ruto.
The club is also awaiting the Ksh15 million prize money from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), amounts that will boost their preparations for the upcoming continental assignments.
