K'Ogalo are preparing for a busy calendar next season as they return to the CAF Champions League for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign
Record FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia are set to acquire their first two names in the off-season transfer window that opened on Monday 1 July.
Two foreign-based players - Gedeon Bandeka and Chris Pius Akena - are reported to be the two names the record champions are chasing, even as they seek to participate in next season’s CAF Champions League.
This comes as club sources confirmed to Mozzart Sport that the pair took part in training on Monday.
Bendeka, 22, as per Rwandese publication Times Sport, is in advanced talks with the 21-time champions, and is "expected to append his signature to the contract in the coming days."
The Congolese striker is currently attached to Rwandese side Etincelles FC, and managed to score 13 goals in 22 games in the past campaign, finishing third in the scorer’s sheet behind Victor Mbaoma and Ani Elijah.
Akena, on the other hand, is a midfielder, and ended his one-year stint with Greek League 2 side Apollon Pontou FC.
The 21-year-old started his youth career at Proway Sports Academy in Uganda, before joining Aspire Academy in Qatar in 2016.
In 2017, he joined Uganda Premier League side Maroons before signing for Shabab Al Ahli Club in 2021, where he won the U21 and U19 pro-league titles.
After a historic move to UAE second tier club Al Rams Club in January 2023, Akena later progressed to playing in Europe, signing a one-year contract with Greek third tier club Megas Alexandros Agias Marinas for the 2023–24 season.
In his time at Apollon Pontou, Akena featured in seven matches without scoring.
He got his first Uganda national team debut in 21 January 2022, and has featured once ever since.
Another player on Gor Mahia's radar, as per multiple reports, is Burundi keeper Jonathan Nahimana, who parted ways with Tanzanian club Namungo FC at the end of the season.
