Gor Mahia striker Benson Omalla left the country on Thursday evening for Sweden where he is set to link up with his new team, FC Linkoping City that plays in the third tier of Swedish football.
After sitting for his KCSE examination at Kisumu Day High School last month, the young striker has been working on his travel documents and with everything in place, he left for Sweden on Thursday.

In an earlier interview with Mozzart Sport, he revealed that his goal is to play in Sweden for more than one season meaning he is keen on having his loan deal prolonged beyond the 6-month agreement between Gor Mahia and Linkoping City.
“I hope to be in Sweden for at least a season and a half. This will help me settle adapt to life abroad and focus on achieving the team’s goals as well as that of self,” he stated.
Omala shot to prominence during the 2019 national school games in Kisumu. Despite his team exiting the competition in the group stage, he caught the eye of several teams and this resulted to a bidding war between Western Stima and Kisumu All-Stars, Stima managed to secure his services, he scored nine goals for the Kisumu based side before the 2019/20 campaign was halted by COVID-19 pandemic.

After a season with Stima, Gor came knocking and he obliged signing a five-year deal with the record league champions. He however did not feature much for Gor owing to his school commitments back in Kisumu and in March, he got a loan offer from FC Linkoping City.
Omala is a Kenya U20 regular. He has featured in two Cecafa U20 tournaments. He has also earned several call-ups to the senior national team, Harambee Stars although he is yet to feature.
