Second placed Tusker will face Mathare United at Ruaraka Grounds

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will be seeking to maintain their cushion at the top of the standings when they travel to Mombasa to face Bandari at the Mbaraki Grounds in one of the six Wednesday midweek matches scheduled as the league enters Round 24.

Currently having a four-point advantage at the summit on 49 points, the Johnathan McKinstry coached side will be out to prevent any slipups when they confront their opponents who are in seventh position and thirteen points behind them.

Having gone back to winning ways with a convincing 2-0 victory against Kariobangi Sharks over the weekend, K’Ogalo will be aiming to get some consistency as the league enters its business end with Tusker hot on their heels should they leave any door open.

On the other hand, Bandari, who are on a three-match winning streak in all competitions will be keen on upsetting the apple cart once the 19-time Kenyan champions set foot on their territory.

The team have however failed to get a victory over Gor since December 2018 when they won 2-1 (3D 5L).

Second placed Tusker will have the luxury of playing on their own turf at the Ruaraka Grounds when they take on relegation fighting Mathare United.

Having played a game less compared to K’Ogalo, the Robert Matano coached side will be keen to build on their four match winning streak in all competitions when they face the Slum Boys.

In other games, fully rested Wazito FC will play host to Nzoia Sugar at their Muhoroni Stadium backyard with stakes so high.

Wazito went down 2-0 to Talanta FC over the weekend, a loss head coach Charles Odera ascribed to exhaustion and sloppy defending.

Odera is yet to pick a win since joining the former moneybags on February 23, and will be under immense pressure from the home fans to finally get off the blocks.

In the 8 games he has so far been in charge, Wazito has recorded five losses and three draws. Overall, Wazito have gone 17 matches without a win.

Only bottom placed Vihiga Bullets FC had a longer winless rub (18), which they broke over the weekend with a surprise 1-0 victory against Mathare United.

The team is firmly in the drop zone and may need a miracle to survive with eleven games left to the end of the season.

Nzoia Sugar on the other hand have enjoyed a good run as the season's surprise package remains in contention for their maiden FKFPL glory.

Placed third on the log standings on 42 points from 23 games, the Millers are just 7 points shy of leaders Gor Mahia, and three points off second placed Tusker FC, who have played a game less.

Against Wazito, the coach Salim Babu's side will be going for nothing short of a win to keep up with the pace at the top.

"We respect them, they might have struggled in the past, but this is a different match altogether," Salim told Mozzart Sport.

"Our approach remains the same, we'll try to win the match, and God willing I know we will emerge victorious," he added.

Kenya Police will face City Stars at the Police Sacco Pavilion looking to end their four match winless run in all competitions while City Stars will be desperate for results to pull them out of relegation territory where they sit third from bottom.

In the early kickoff games, Kariobangi Sharks face Kakamega Homeboyz while Posta Rangers take on Bidco United.
