The Ghanaian is among the five nominees shortlisted for the prestigious award after a successful 2025/26 FKF Premier League season alongside teammate Shariff Musa, Joe Waithira of Murang’a Seal, Mara Sugar’s Jimmy Owili and AFC Leopards vice captain Kayci Odhiambo.

Morrison was a vital cog in the well-oiled K’Ogalo wheel, who reclaimed the league title for a historic 22nd time.

Speaking ahead of the end-of-season gala award to be held on Thursday, 4 June, Morrison opened up on what gives him a head start.

“Inshallah. We are taking it home. We won the league and are therefore in a better position of taking it home,” said Morrison.

Nevertheless, the Ghanaian midfielder was flattered by the nomination itself, which he believes stamped what has been a stellar season with K’Ogalo.

“It is a very great honour to get the nomination itself because we have so many players in the league, and to be among those nominated is no mean feat and signifies the recognition of the hard work that I put in throughout the season,” added Morrison.

Having been part of Gor Mahia in the 2024/25 season that saw the club post underwhelming results and finish the season without a trophy, the 26-year-old expressed his gratitude for the success achieved this season.

“We thank God for the title. It has been a tough season with ups and downs, but finally we laid our hands on the trophy.

We managed it through hard work and the support from the fans who kept pushing us in each and every game,” he remarked.

With their league title, Gor Mahia will compete in next season’s CAF Champions League, a tournament where Morrison will be expected to play a key role for the club.
