Bandari FC’s marauding left back Siraj Mohammed has expressed immense delight after being voted the fans best player in the just concluded 2021/2022 campaign.

Siraj fended off strong opposition from Joseph Otieno, Denis Magige, Kevin Kimani, Andrew Juma, club top scorer Johana Mwita, Abdallah Hassan, and Michael Wanyika in the Bandari Fans Awards which were held last week with the dreadlocked defender walking home with the accolade that attracted a certificate of merit, a trophy and Ksh. 30,000.

In the just concluded season, the Kenyan international was one of the reliable players for the Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani coached side as he was a mainstay in the team’s starting eleven, raking up a total of 37 appearances in all competitions throughout the season and picking seven man of the match awards in the process.

The defender chose to dedicate the award to upcoming footballers from the coastal region whom he encouraged to keep honing their craft.

"I am happy to have won the award and this is a dedication to all the young players in the Coastal region. If I made it so can you, just work hard, and with a plan, you can achieve everything you wish for. I will continue to work hard and hopefully win even more awards in the future, not at Bandari, but elsewhere if I am presented with such an opportunity," the player is quoted saying on the Nation.

Alongside the Player of the Season awards, Bandari also introduced the Fans Young Player of the Season award where Mohammed Abeid emerged as the overall winner with a slim victory against season debutants Joseph Otieno, Bakari Ali, Boniface Mwangemi, Ronny Otieno, and Mbarak Musa who are all products of the club’s youth system.

Bandari had a mixed season in the 2021/2022 campaign, finishing in fourth place on the log after flattering to deceive when it came to the title fight that was won by Tusker.
