Green Commandos, Simba Apparel seek redemption in Division one Sunday action
Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 22.10.23. | 10:41
All Zone B matches kick off at 1.00 PM
After thrilling encounters on Saturday, the Football Kenya Federation Division One league is set to continue on Sunday with a host of matches lined up across various venues in the country.
In Zone B Green Commandos will be seeking to get the season underway as they face a pumped Sigalagala Poly FC at the Sigalagala grounds following a shaky start that has left the Ramadhan Balala-coached side winless in the opening three matches.
Commandos, who are tipped to flourish this season, have had a shadow performance of the previous term, succumbing to defeats against debutants Nakuru Bucks and GFE 105 FC before staging a stalemate with Compel FC, a performance that leaves them one point close to the red zone.
The students will be hoping to amend this week, although they face a side that is resolute on defense this term, conceding just once.
A win for the Daudi Amboso-instructed side will lift them one point closer to the promotion chasing pack, while a resounding victory for the Commandos will move them closer to safety.
Elsewhere, the third-placed Nakuru Bucks travel to Bomet for the APS Bomet clash penciled for Bomet IAAF Stadium, with top-of-the table status up for grabs.
Bucks, newbies in the league, have started the season on high, winning all of the opening games, further fueling Peter Wekesa’s charges promotion chase.
In other Zone B matches, Vegpro FC will host Transfoc at the Longonot Horticultural Ground, while Sunderland Naivasha will entertain Bondo United at the Karai Primary School Ground.
Zone A
League debutants Simba Apparel will be seeking their first win since promotion to the third tier when they clash against Ruiru Hot Stars at the Imani Grounds, Nairobi.
Simba are on a barbarism form, failing to win in three of their last Division One matches whereas Ruiru have an infelicity defensive record that has seen the community powered team go three matches without keeping a clean sheet.
Ruiru boast of good bearing heading into the match as they have collected maximum points in five of their previous games and will be smiling at a fact that Simba have failed to score in three successive matches.
At Mukerenju Primary School Grounds, a clash of the debutants is set to go down as Kabati Youth welcome Omax FC from Mombasa. Kabati will be looking to bounce back from last weekend shock loss to Malindi United while Omax are determined to build on the previous week victory over Kibera Soccer.
In other matches slated for Sunday, two promotion favorites in Zetech Titans and Young Bulls go head to head at the Jacaranda 11 Grounds in Ruiru while embattled Olympic Pirates host Malindi United at the Isiolo Boys High School Ground.
