The Frenchman wore that number before leaving Atletico Madrid for Barcelona in 2019

Sometimes, you just have to read between the lines. And to pay attention to numbers, too.

Because in the case of Antoine Griezmann, or shall we say more accurately - in the case of Joao Felix, it tells a story of its own.

Felix, the former Chelsea loanee, has been stripped of his No 7 shirt at Atletico Madrid, as it was given back to Griezmann, who wore it for years before moving to Barcelona in 2019.

According to Spanish media, the 23-year-old Portuguese winger has his sights set on joining Paris Saint-Germain. His current contract expires in 2027, and Atletico are looking for a fee in the region of £85m for their club-record transfer.

Felix spent the second half of last season at Stamford Bridge, scoring four goals in 16 appearances but failing to help improve the club's results. There was, however, an expectation that he would join the Blues on a permanent basis, but new manager Mauricio Pochettino made the call to send him back to Atletico and focus on other targets.

And it does not appear that the Spanish club are counting on him for the new campaign either. Relevo claims that Felix and Atletico manager Diego Simeone do not want to work together again.
